Haryana Census: Director urges residents to complete self-enumeration by tomorrow

With the house listing and Census operations set to commence from May 1 across Haryana, Dr Lalit Jain, Director of Census, Haryana, Ministry of Home Affairs, has appealed to residents to complete self-enumeration by tomorrow.

“All citizens should actively participate and ensure they complete their census using this facility. More than 2.45 lakh households in Haryana have completed self-enumeration so far, setting a new record and reflecting strong public participation and awareness across the state. In particular, significant enthusiasm has been observed among the youth,” he said.

Self-enumeration is a simple process and can be completed in 5-7 minutes by visiting the portal (se.census.gov.in). After that, residents only need to share the ID number issued with the enumerator.

Dr Jain clarified that all information furnished by citizens will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared with any individual or institution.

“The public should extend full cooperation to all enumerators and supervisors visiting their areas and provide them with accurate and updated information,” he said.

The census is a national responsibility through which every citizen contributes to the nation’s development, policy formulation, and equitable distribution of resources. Refusal to provide required information to census officials or non-cooperation with them is a punishable offence under the Census Act.

Dr Jain thanked all district administrations in the state, stating that every district has made comprehensive preparations for the conduct of census operations and put in place efficient arrangements.

If any enumerator, supervisor, or citizen faces difficulty, they may contact their supervisor or tehsildar. In addition, Census Department’s helpline 1855 is available for citizens, enumerators, or supervisors to report issues. Appropriate action will be ensured on every complaint.
