Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation meets Industry Minister
Various issues concerning the industries of Yamunanagar discussed in detail
A delegation from the Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), Yamunanagar, led by its President Rajesh Sondhi, on Tuesday met Haryana’s Minister of Industries, Commerce, Environment and Forest, Rao Narbir Singh, in Chandigarh.
During the hour-long meeting, the delegation discussed several pressing issues concerning industries in Yamunanagar.
One of the key concerns raised was the inclusion of industrial units under the state’s new Industrial Regularization Policy. The delegation pointed out that several units established before the Controlled Area notifications are currently excluded because they do not meet the 10-acre requirement. They urged the government to consider these cases.
The delegation also highlighted concerns over what it described as unnecessary pollution complaints against industries that were set up before nearby residential areas developed.
Another major issue discussed was the shortage of raw material, particularly wood, affecting the plywood industry. The delegation suggested promoting new plantations and emphasized the need for a structured plan. The Minister has sought a detailed report on the matter.
The delegation further raised the issue of the Industrial Mixed Land Use policy announced in Jagadhri in the presence of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, which has yet to be implemented on the ground.
Additionally, HCCI proposed permanent representation in the monthly District Level Grievances Committee (DLGC) meetings.
The delegation also invited the Minister to attend the next HCCI General Meeting as Chief Guest at his convenience. A request was submitted for a government grant to establish a Common Facility Centre (CFC) at the HCCI plot in the Yamunanagar Industrial Area.
Sondhi said the Minister listened attentively and directed officials to prioritise these issues and convene a detailed follow-up meeting to ensure timely resolution.
The delegation also welcomed the relief announced in the Haryana Budget 2026–27 regarding solid waste management charges. Sondhi said the decision was the result of HCCI’s sustained efforts.
He explained that industrial units managing scientific in-house waste disposal will now be exempt from such charges, while others will be charged based only on covered area rather than total plot size. “This will provide significant relief to industries across the state,” he added.
