Haryana CM calls Mamata Banerjee 'more harmful than communists', targets Congress over cross-voting
Saini claimed that 'solutions exist only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi'
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday launched a sharp political attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that she is “more harmful than the Communists,” while also targeting the Congress over alleged cross-voting during the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
Addressing mediapersons in Gurugram, Saini said that West Bengal continues to face governance challenges and claimed that “solutions exist only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He alleged that while the Communist regime had earlier created problems in the state, the situation had worsened under Banerjee’s leadership.
“Earlier, Communists created problems, but Mamata Banerjee has created even bigger issues. She has proved to be more dangerous than them,” Saini said, intensifying his criticism of the Trinamool Congress leadership ahead of key political developments.
The Chief Minister also took aim at the Congress party, accusing it of internal discord and questioning its credibility following the cross voting episode in the Rajya Sabha polls. Referring to senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Saini said, “Hooda ji or the party in-charge should clarify who indulged in cross voting. Both were present and monitoring the voting process—so who is responsible?”
Calling the incident an “internal matter” of the Congress, Saini alleged that the party was attempting to shift blame instead of addressing its internal issues. “They are trying to deflect responsibility and malign each other. This reflects the state of Congress today,” he added.
Continuing his criticism, Saini said the Congress had “failed to deliver for the people” during its tenure and accused it of pushing the country into problems during its years in power. “Congress neither created effective schemes nor worked in public interest. It only led the nation into crises. Today, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, those issues are being resolved,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited the BJP district office in Gurugram, where he unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also chaired a grievance redressal meeting, where around 15 complaints from residents were heard.
The remarks come amid heightened political activity following the Rajya Sabha elections, with cross voting allegations triggering fresh tensions between political parties in Haryana.
