Haryana CM Nayab Saini orders safety audit after Surajkund fair tragedy
Announces Rs 1 lakh aid for seriously injured, assures government job to cop's family; orders review of all rides and equipment
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday ordered a comprehensive safety audit following the tragic incident at the Surajkund fair and directed officials to ensure strict compliance with safety standards at fairs and other public events across the state.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said, “The incident at the Surajkund fair was extremely painful. Instructions have been given to conduct a complete review of the technical inspection, fitness certification, and operational arrangements of all the swings and equipment, and to submit a report, so that the recurrence of such incidents can be prevented in the future.
“The safety of human life is paramount and any negligence will not be tolerated. The state government is committed to providing all possible support and assistance to the affected families and the injured.”
Expressing condolences to the family of Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who lost his life in the accident, CM Saini said the state government stands firmly with the martyr’s family during this difficult time. Inspector Prasad was posted at Chandhut Police Station in Palwal.
He assured that all possible assistance would be extended to the family of the martyred police officer. To ensure the family’s financial security, a member of his family will be provided a government job so that the family does not face any financial difficulties in the future.
Sharing details of the injured, the Chief Minister informed that out of eight injured persons admitted to Supreme Hospital, four have been discharged after treatment, while the remaining four are still undergoing treatment and are being closely monitored by a team of doctors.
In addition, four injured persons admitted to BK Civil Hospital have also been discharged after treatment.
The Chief Minister announced that seriously injured persons would be provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each by the state government. Other injured persons will also be given assistance as per the rules.
