Haryana CM seeks report on Surajkund Fair mishap, announces aid for victims

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said officials have been directed to ascertain the cause of the Surajkund fair tragedy and ensure that such accidents do not recur.

Calling the incident “extremely painful”, the CM said daily inspections of swings were conducted and reports prepared, and added that he was personally monitoring the matter. “Directions have been issued to find out the reason behind the incident and to ensure no recurrence,” he said.

Expressing condolences to the family of Inspector Jagdish Prasad, the Chief Minister said the state government stood firmly with the martyr’s family. He announced a government job for an eligible family member to ensure financial security.

The CM said seriously injured victims would receive Rs 1 lakh each, while others would be assisted as per rules. He added that the state government would bear the full cost of treatment.

Of the injured, four admitted to Supreme Hospital have been discharged, while four others remain under treatment. Four injured admitted to BK Civil Hospital have also been discharged.
