Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi will announce his resignation from Haryana Assembly on Wednesday to join the BJP on Thursday.

The resignation will necessitate a byelection in Adampur.

The rebel Congress leader who had expressed his intention to defect to the BJP revealed his political plans while interacting with his supporters at his shop-cum-residence in Anaj Mandi in Adampur town of Hisar district.

Bishnoi praised the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar while describing him as a large-hearted man and added that the CM had accepted several of his demands even though he is in the opposition.

“I will be able to get more development projects for the assembly segment when I am with the party in power. I am going to resign from the Assembly tomorrow and will join the BJP the day after tomorrow,” he said while his supporters raised slogans in favour of the BJP.

He reached his home town today evening accompanied by his wife Renuka Bishnoi and mother Jasma Devi. His supporters had gathered in front of his shop where he along with his wife and mother sat across the table. He briefly consulted his workers about his political plan to join the BJP who overwhelmingly backed him.

“I will be joining the BJP at the party headquarters in Delhi and all of you should also reach the venue the day after tomorrow,” he said to his workers before summing up his about half an hour meeting.

Bishnoi has their ancestral residence-cum-shop number 107 in the grain market in Adampur. Kuldeep is the younger son of Bhajan Lal who has been the longest serving chief minister of Haryana.

Kuldeep has been known to hold the political legacy of his father Bhajan Lal and has represented the Adampur assembly segment four times. He is also two times MP representing Hisar and Bhiwani Lok Sabha constituencies once each.

Kuldeep has made his intentions to leave the Congress clear when he raised a banner of revolt after the Congress high command appointed a Dalit face Udai Bhan as Haryana Congress president earlier this year.

Bhan is a known as loyalist of the former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Kuldeep expressed his displeasure over appointment of Udai Bhan as Haryana president while openly claiming that he was promised the post by the Congress high command.

However, his ouster from the Congress became imminent when he voted for Kartikeya Sharma, a BJP backed Independent candidate in Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana in June. The Congress then removed him from all the party posts.

Subsequently, he met the BJP national president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Haryana CM Khattar recently. Earlier today, he had tweeted, “August 4, 2022, 10.10 am”, which indicated that he could join the BJP on this designated day and time.

Kuldeep had also parted ways with the Congress when his father Bhajan Lal was denied Chief Ministerial post after the Congress came to power in Haryana in 2005 and handpicked Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the top post. In 2007, he formed his separate outfit Haryana Janhit Congress. Later, he entered into tie ups with the BJP and BSP and Haryana Jan Chetna Party of Venod Sharma.
