Karnal: Union Power Minister and Karnal MP Manohar Lal Khattar’s recent train journey to his constituency has become a major talking point among party workers and local residents. Braving crowded platforms, Khattar often travels by train, inviting praise from locals for his approachability and humility. This time around, he travelled to Karnal to chair a DISHA meeting via train. Supporters, party workers and leaders gathered at the station to welcome him and described the gesture as a reminder of how leaders could remain connected to their people. They said the MP was setting a strong example for other leaders and encouraging them to remain grounded.

Uncertainty looms over gurdwara panel

Kurukshetra: The prevailing deadlock and growing differences between its members have brought the functioning of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) to a standstill. With a fractured mandate, the requirement of a two-third majority in the general house and executive body meetings continues to be a major obstacle for the HSGMC president in convening meetings. This has instilled a sense of uncertainty among committee leaders. A senior leader said personal issues between members had brought all projects to a standstill and neither side was making an effort to mend fences. It is unlikely to see the committee functioning for the betterment of gurdwaras and educational institutions in the near future, he added.

Parties gear up for Sonepat MC polls

Sonepat: With the publication of the final electoral roll for the upcoming MC polls in Sonepat, the city has started buzzing with political activity. The tenure of the MC House ended on January 12. Although the schedule for the civic body elections is yet to be announced, BJP, Congress, AAP and other parties have started holding public meetings to sway voters. Congress and AAP leaders have been moving from ward to ward to woo voters, while BJP leadership has held multiple rounds of meetings with party workers and ticket aspirants in different wards.

BJP leaders under fire over LPG shortage

Mahendragarh: The shortage of LPG has become a big headache for the residents, administrative officers and leaders of the ruling party. While officials have been sharing the exact number of LPG cylinders available in their districts to assert that there is no shortage, residents have started taking to the streets to protest unavailability. Leaders from opposition parties have been questioning the government over the grave inconvenience being caused to residents due to the shortage.

Yamunanagar: Residents have expressed satisfaction with the way Deputy Commissioner Preeti has been working. Her honest and strict work ethic is reflected in the performance of various government departments. She has tightened the noose around illegal mining and overloading in the district, and several government offices’ manner of dealing with the public has also come under scrutiny. However, a few politicians, officers and businessmen have expressed discontent with her performance. Lauding the DC, locals said a working style like hers was the need of the hour for good administration.
