Haryana firmly on track to eliminate TB: ACS (Health)
Unveils patient-centric initiatives under National TB Elimination Programme
Haryana is steadily progressing towards eliminating tuberculosis, backed by digital innovation, robust diagnostics and community participation, said Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) Sumita Misra on Wednesday.
“With strong commitment, digital innovation, robust diagnostics and community participation, Haryana is firmly on track to eliminate tuberculosis and ensure dignified, comprehensive care for every affected individual,” she said while unveiling a series of patient-centric initiatives under the National TB Elimination Programme.
The new measures include a dedicated State TB Cell website for real-time public access to services, a first-of-its-kind Sewing Machine Centre to help TB survivors regain financial independence, a clinical guidance document to reduce TB mortality, a celebrity-led awareness campaign and integration of SNA Sparsh with the national Nikshay portal.
Misra said the Sewing Machine Centre symbolised the state’s focus on life after TB, with the first trained beneficiary set to receive her machine soon. The upcoming website will enhance transparency and access to TB-related services statewide.
Sharing 2025 data (January-December), she said Haryana conducted 12,52,537 sputum tests against a target of 9,75,000, achieving 3,848 tests per lakh population. A total of 88,689 TB cases were notified, reaching 98% of the annual target, while the private sector achieved 105%, reflecting strong public-private coordination.
Treatment outcomes remained encouraging, with 74,483 patients successfully treated in 2024, recording a 90% success rate. HIV testing coverage stood at 98% and diabetes screening at 96%. Universal Drug Susceptibility Testing covered 90% of confirmed cases.
The state’s TB infrastructure includes 23 District TB Centres, 168 TB Units and 452 Microscopy Centres, supported by advanced diagnostic machines and two specialised laboratories.
Under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, over 34 lakh vulnerable individuals were mapped and more than 10 lakh screened. Haryana also achieved 1,855 TB Mukt Panchayats in 2024 and received national appreciation for its Nikshay Mitra initiative.
