Haryana Governor's Private Secretary Chatterjee relieved of duty
Secretary to Governor, IAS Vijay Kumar, said that Chatterjee had tendered his resignation due to personal reasons
In a surprise development, Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh has relieved his Private Secretary Shankha Chatterjee of duty.
The order, issued by the Governor on August 6, stated that Chatterjee "is hereby relieved of his duties as Private Secretary to Governor, Haryana, with immediate effect".
Chatterjee had joined Prof Ghosh soon after his appointment as Haryana Governor in July 2025. He assumed charge as Private Secretary to the Governor on October 23, 2025.
The reason behind his removal could not be ascertained. Chatterjee could not be contacted as his phone remained switched off.
However, Secretary to Governor, IAS Vijay Kumar, said that Chatterjee had tendered his resignation due to personal reasons, following which he was relieved of his duties.
It is learnt that complaints regarding alleged irregularities in his functioning had come to the notice of government agencies, and his role was under scrutiny.
