The Haryana Government has announced a 10 per cent rebate on property tax for the financial year 2026-27 if citizens deposit their dues by July 31. Dr Vaishali Sharma, Karnal Municipal Commissioner, said the rebate aims to encourage timely payment.

The rebate applies to defaulters too, provided they clear all outstanding dues in one lump sum. However, it only applies to the current financial year’s property tax and not to arrears. The MC has enabled online payment through property.ulbharyana.gov.in, offering an additional 1 per cent rebate for online payments. Dr Sharma urged property holders to deposit their tax before the deadline, highlighting that revenue collected benefits citizens through civic amenities like roads, sanitation, and water supply.

Mayor Renu Bala Gupta also appealed for timely payment to avail the 10 per cent rebate. The MC has launched a mission-mode recovery campaign, with a review meeting directing officials to intensify field surveys and inspections.

In 2025-26, the MC recovered Rs 29.56 crore, with Rs 4.50 crore collected this year. Officials were instructed to expedite pending cases and bring new properties under the tax net.
