Haryana Human Rights Commission chief inspects Rewari old-age home

Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) Chairperson Justice Lalit Batra on Thursday inspected the Home for Aged and Destitute in Model Town, Rewari, and reviewed the facilities and arrangements being provided to its residents.

During the visit, Justice Batra gathered information regarding the healthcare services, food quality, cleanliness and other amenities available at the facility. He also interacted with the elderly residents, enquired about their well-being and distributed fruits among them.

Justice Batra emphasised the importance of healthcare services and directed officials to ensure regular medical check-ups for residents. He further instructed that specialists and counsellors visit the home periodically to provide their services and support.

The HHRC chief also issued directions to promote spiritual engagement among the

elderly residents. He stressed the need to ensure the timely availability of ambulance services whenever required.

During the inspection, Justice Batra reviewed the condition of the building and asked the concerned departments to undertake necessary repair and maintenance works. He also instructed officials of the Municipal Council to renovate and improve the park located within the premises.

Justice Batra further instructed the District Social Welfare Officer to ensure adequate deployment of security personnel, sanitation workers and other staff members at the facility.

“Senior citizens are an integral part of society and it should be reassured that the society stands with them. If circumstances compel them to live in old-age homes, society must ensure that they receive proper care and support,” he said.

Prior to the inspection, Justice Batra held a meeting at the Public Works Department Rest House with district officials, including Superintendent of Police Hemendra Kumar Meena and Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Modi, to discuss law and order and other administrative matters.
