Chandigarh, May 9
With a continuous surge in Covid cases, the Haryana Government today extended the lockdown in the state by another week till May 17.
Home Minister Anil Vij, however, refrained from calling it a lockdown. “Surakshit (safe) Haryana announced from May 10 to 17. Stringent measures will be taken to contain the spread of Covid,” Vij tweeted.
The movement of only essential services would be allowed with people requiring Covid passes for any movement within or outside the state.
Sources said with over 13,000 cases and more than 150 deaths being reported daily, the strict restrictions would continue to be in place till the situation improved. Haryana on Sunday reported 151 deaths.
