Haryana overall champion in Para Athletics Championship

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday congratulated the state’s athletes for their outstanding performance at the 24th National Para Athletics Championship-2026, where Haryana emerged as the overall champion.

The championship, held from March 17 to 21 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, saw Haryana’s para athletes win a total of 95 medals, including 39 gold, 31 silver and 25 bronze.

Praising the achievement, the Chief Minister said the performance reflected the athletes’ determination and resilience. “This proud accomplishment not only strengthens Haryana’s leading position in sports but also highlights the confidence and capabilities of our para athletes,” he said.

He also lauded the contribution of coaches and support staff in achieving the success. Haryana outperformed other states to secure the top position in the championship.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Saini said sustained efforts are being made to promote sports in the state. “Special focus is being given to para athletes through training, modern infrastructure and incentive schemes, enabling them to excel at national and international levels,” he added.

Expressing confidence, he said Haryana’s athletes would continue to bring laurels and inspire future generations.
