Haryana has emerged as the top-performing state in the country in terms of growth in gross State GST (SGST) revenues (post-settlement) during the financial year 2025-26, registering a 22% increase over the previous year. The growth significantly outpaces the national average of 6%, placing Haryana at the forefront among all states.

According to an official spokesperson, the sustained high growth has helped Haryana improve its national ranking in SGST collection from 9th in FY 2024-25 to 6th in FY 2025-26, surpassing states such as Telangana, West Bengal and Rajasthan.

The state’s GST taxpayer base has also expanded steadily. As of April 1, 2026, Haryana has 6,30,818 registered taxpayers, marking a 12% increase over the previous year.

The spokesperson attributed the strong performance to GST rate rationalisation reforms undertaken by the GST Council in September 2025, along with improved compliance and the use of data analytics in tax administration.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had earlier welcomed the reforms and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for initiating the changes. The reforms were also marked across the state through ‘GST Bachat Utsav’.

The government has further emphasised strengthening tax administration. In the FY 2026-27 Budget, the Chief Minister announced several reforms aimed at improving the interface between taxpayers and the Excise and Taxation Department, while also enhancing enforcement to curb tax evasion.
