Haryana's Rohtak civic body officials to visit wards ahead of Swachh Survekshan
Move aims at ensuring proper monitoring of sanitary conditions in each ward
In a bid to enhance sanitation standards and prepare for the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, officials of the Rohtak Municipal Corporation (MC) will now conduct daily on-site inspections across city wards, engaging with residents and addressing their grievances pertaining to cleanliness on the spot.
The directive comes from MC Commissioner Anand Kumar Sharma, who issued it while reviewing Rohtak’s preparations to enhance the city’s performance in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan. The on-spot visit will also help in receiving genuine feedback from residents about the MC’s work.
“Continuous monitoring of ongoing cleanliness drives across the city is being undertaken. To make sanitation efforts more effective, municipal officers have been assigned specific wards and directed to regularly inspect cleanliness-related activities in their designated areas,” said the Commissioner.
As per directions, Joint Commissioner Manjeet Singh will oversee Wards 1 to 3, Joint Commissioner Namita Kumari Wards 4 to 6, Executive Engineer Manjeet Dahiya Wards 7 and 8, Executive Engineer Yograj Chikara Wards 9 and 10, Town Planner Wards 11 and 14, Assistant Engineer Wards 12 and 13, Junior Engineer Surya Dhankhar Wards 19 and 20, Chief Sanitation Inspectors Sudhir Kumar Wards 17 and 19, Sachin Wards 15 and 16, and Revenue Officer Sandeep Batra Wards 21 and 22.
“The officials will inspect door-to-door waste collection, segregation of wet and dry waste, proper disposal into garbage trucks, and cleanliness of public spaces. Any shortcomings in sanitation will be addressed immediately, with on-the-spot instructions issued to the staff concerned,” said the Commissioner.
Sharma emphasised that achieving a higher rank in the Swachh Survekshan required not only the corporation’s efforts but also active citizen participation. He urged the residents to keep their homes, streets, and neighbourhoods clean, segregate waste at source, avoid single-use plastics and encourage others to maintain cleanliness. “If citizens adopt cleanliness as a habit, Rohtak can become a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful city,” he added.
The MC authorities have urged the residents to cooperate with the municipal sanitation teams so that Rohtak can achieve top ranks in the upcoming Swachh Survekshan.
Notably, Rohtak had slipped to fifth place from first in the state rankings last year, despite making a significant leap nationally, climbing from 109th to 25th place. The MC is making efforts to address shortcomings and consolidate its position in both state and national cleanliness rankings.
