The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued a notice to the petitioners on a plea filed by Palwal MLA Karan Singh Dalal, claiming he was in possession of vital information that could be helpful in deciding the case pertaining to hiring of non-AC buses on kilometre basis.
Seeking directions to act as an intervenor in the ongoing petition for the quashing of the scheme for hiring non-AC buses on the kilometre basis by the Transport Department, Dalal said he attended inquiry proceedings initiated by the Vigilance department and pointed out irregularities and illegalities in the scheme and grant of permits.
His counsel Amandeep Singh stated that Dalal had specifically pointed towards the alleged fudging of figures by officials to give undue benefit to the permit holders at the cost of public exchequer.
“Though the officers conducting the inquiry into the scam had promised a fair probe and strict action against the culprits, when the report, dated May 13, came out, it became clear that the Vigilance had come out with a sham report,” said Amandeep.
