Hisar-based national film award winner actress Baljinder Kaur and her teenaged daughter Garima have bagged key roles in Bollywood movie “Turram Khan” being produced by Ajay Devgan.

Kaur, 41, won the national film award in 2015 for her role in the Haryanavi movie, “Pagri — the Honour”, which was based on family honour vis-à-vis honour killings in the region. She said she was delighted to get a break in a big budget movie in Bollywood. Her role in the movie “Shahid”, a biographical drama movie directed by Hansal Mehta, also got much appreciation from the film industry.

Mehta is also the director of the upcoming movie “Turram Khan” which is based on the student life of sportspersons of the region, Kaur said. She would play the role of mother of actress Rajkumar Rao, while her daughter Garima would be featured as a student of Rao in the movie.

Feeling excited about the roles, Kaur said she hoped that artistes from Haryana would get a bigger platform in the Bollywood, hoping that the Haryanavi film industry too would flourish after the announcement of the film policy. Director Rajiv Bhatia said on the occasion that though the newly released Haryana’s film policy was good, the implementation of the policy was a major issue.
