Hisar hospitals deserted as doctors stay off duty

With about 135 government medical officers on strike in Hisar district today, the comparatively lesser number of patients visit and deployment of doctors and post graduate medical students from Medical College, Agroha, doctors from ESI hospital, National Health Mission and contractual as well as retired doctors helped the health authorities to manage the affairs in the civil hospital today.

The health officials informed that in view of the strike call, there was comparatively lesser number of patient visits in the OPDs and other services in the civil hospital as compared to other days. “There were 1,261 OPD registrations, 49 indoor admissions and 39 emergency cases. While labour room handled 10 deliveries and 24 newborn admissions in the NICU besides seven medico-legal cases and two post-mortem examinations were conducted,” said the officials, adding that it indicated that the services remained unaffected of the strike.

Meanwhile, in view of the doctors’ strike, DC Mahender Pal inspected the Civil Hospital and reviewed the status of services.
