Hisar police form SIT to probe clash between Dushyant Chautala convoy, CIA vehicle
DSP says no FIR has been registered so far, and statements of those involved are being recorded for further action
The Hisar police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recent confrontation between the convoy of former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and a CIA vehicle, after both sides filed four complaints — two each — against one another.
In a statement, DSP Kamaljeet Singh defended the CIA unit, stating that Chautala’s convoy was allegedly violating norms, including the use of a personal escort and pilot vehicle without approval. He said notices had been issued in this regard.
The officer added that no FIR had been registered so far and that statements of those involved were being recorded for further action. He said complaints had been filed by Dushyant Chautala and his security personnel Pradeep Kumar, while CIA incharge Pawan Kumar and another policeman Raj Kumar had also lodged complaints, levelling allegations against the other side.
During the preliminary inquiry, it has also emerged that one of the pilot vehicles in Chautala’s convoy had been challaned four times for overspeeding, the police said.
The DSP refuted allegations that CIA incharge Pawan Kumar was carrying a firearm when he stepped out of his vehicle during the incident.
The confrontation took place on April 17 when Dushyant Chautala and his brother Digvijay were heading towards the mini secretariat from the Hisar city police station. Near the old sabji mandi, a CIA vehicle reportedly overtook the convoy’s security vehicle, after which the CIA incharge allegedly stepped out in a threatening manner. In the ensuing moments, Chautala also got out of his vehicle and attempted to stop the CIA vehicle, which then drove away.
