Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda today launched a sharp attack on Congress MLAs who allegedly cross-voted in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections, asserting that those who “betrayed the party and their voters” should resign from their Assembly seats on moral grounds.

Interacting with mediapersons in Naraingarh, the constituency represented by Congress MLA Shalley Chaudhary, who has been issued a show-cause notice in connection with the alleged cross-voting, Hooda said the party would soon take disciplinary action against the erring legislators.

“The MLAs who were engaged in cross-voting should resign immediately on moral grounds. These MLAs have not only betrayed the party but have also betrayed the people who elected them. They should resign and the people of their respective constituencies will teach them a lesson,” Hooda said.

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh echoed Hooda’s stance, stating that strict action against the MLAs was imminent.

“The Congress MLAs who voted against the party were issued show-cause notices by the Party’s Disciplinary Action Committee. A couple of MLAs also appeared before the committee, its report has been forwarded to the party state incharge BK Hariparsad, and soon a strict action will be taken against those MLAs,” he said.

The Congress leaders also targeted the BJP-led state government over alleged harassment of farmers through new procurement policies. Hooda criticised the introduction of portal registrations, biometric verification, and gate pass systems, claiming these measures were forcing farmers to sell their produce below the MSP.

Rao Narender Singh also pointed to operational issues in mandis, alleging that wheat procurement was being denied on the pretext of higher moisture content.
