HPSC is 'rejection' commission, mocks Hooda
Asks govt to change name to 'Gair-Haryanvi Public Service Commission'
Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday said that the BJP government, which was adept at changing names, should also change the name of the HPSC (Haryana Public Service Commission to "GHPSC" ('Gair-Haryanvi Public Service Commission') as the institution was giving Haryana's jobs to people from other states. He claimed that the government was conspiring to deprive youth of high-ranking positions by keeping HPSC posts vacant.
Hooda alleged that the HPSC had now become a rejection commission instead of a selection commission. For the past 11 years, the BJP government had been cheating the youth of Haryana in the name of recruitment. The government cancelled the recruitment process for 100 posts of Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs) in the Agriculture Department after three and a half years, he said.
After years of waiting, the recruitment result of 1,711 PGT computer science posts was declared by the HPSC, but only 39 passed. Many posts had been kept vacant in other recruitment as well.
“The HPSC has actually become a Gair-Haryanvi Public Service Commission because most of the selections are of candidates from outside the state,” said Hooda, adding that the youth of Haryana were clearing UPSC and other competitive exams. “The question is, are the youth of Haryana so incompetent that they cannot even score enough marks to pass the recruitment exam? The youth of Haryana are becoming IAS and IPS officers.”
“The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is from Haryana. We are hoisting the flag of our state's pride everywhere, so why is it that they are failing in the eyes of the HPSC? It is surprising that our children from Haryana, who are NET and JRF toppers, university gold medallists, and have been working in high-ranking positions for years, are unable to score 35% in the Assistant Professors' exam,” he said.
Recently, in the recruitment for English Assistant Professors, there were 613 posts, but only 151 candidates were called for interviews, he said. "In the HCS Ex BR recruitment, only 61 of 100 posts were filled. Similarly, in the recruitment for 600 ADO posts, only 50 were filled. In the recruitment for 80 PGT music posts, only 25 were filled," he claimed.
Of 287 PGT political science posts, 192 were filled; and of 61 lecturer electrical posts, 40 were filled, he added.
Hooda said the HPSC Chairman should be dismissed and a Haryanvi must be appointed as the Chairman.
