All-India Congress Committee (AICC) communication in charge Randeep Surjewala on Saturday alleged that government jobs in the state were being given for money and question papers were being leaked. He was addressing a rally in Narwala town of Jind district.

“If the Congress is voted to power in Haryana in the next Assembly elections, it will institute an inquiry into job appointments done by government agencies,” said Surjewala, Kaithal MLA.

“The state government has stated in the Assembly that it has given jobs to 8,500 youths while the fact is that it has sacked around 40,000 teachers, computer professions and health employees,” he alleged.

Surjewala said that before the 2014 elections, Narendra Modi had promised to provide the minimum support price (MSP) of 50 per cent above the input costs of crops to farmers. “The recent hike in the MSP indicated that it was a hollow promise. Even after four years, the promise has not been fulfilled and the increase in the support prices was well below the criteria of 50 per cent beneficial cost of crops such as paddy, guar, cotton. The cost of diesel, agriculture implements and seed and pesticides has increased due to GST,” he said.

He alleged the government had introduced a Munafa Yojna as seven insurance firms posted profits of Rs 15,000 crore the previous year while farmers got Rs 5,600 crore as compensation.

Surjewala said that Haryana had a debt of Rs 60,000 crore when the BJP came to power. “Now, the state has a whopping debt of Rs 1.62 lakh crore. The figure indicates that the state government has been taking loan of Rs 72 crore every day. While we are sitting in the rally for five hours, the debt burden has risen by Rs 5 crore,” he added.
