The Deputy Commissioner Preeti has formed a committee led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja to strengthen check posts to stop illegal mining and transportation of mining mineral in the district.
The committee will also have SDMs, DSPs, DSP of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau and the District Mining Officer.
The DC held a meeting and directed SDMs to issue instructions to sarpanches to assist the administration in preventing illegal mining, otherwise action would be taken against them. They would be held responsible for illegal mining on panchayat land also.
Assistant Mining Engineer Rajesh Kumar said that since the last meeting on November 6, the Mines and Geology Department, Yamunanagar, had seized 57 vehicles involved in illegal mining and transportation of mining mineral. The department also recovered a fine of Rs 27.20 lakh from the owners of the seized vehicles.
Seven cases had also been registered against screening plants and stone crushers involved in illegal mining.
The DC directed the Irrigation and Water Resources Department to take steps to stop riverbed mining; and ordered the Haryana State Pollution Control Bureau and Sales Tax Department to act against stone crushers and screening plants that had been closed.
If the closed plants were found operating, their electricity connection should be disconnected, she said, adding that multiple use of e-ravana should also be stopped.
