Faridabad, April 18

The number of active Covid cases in the district have increased five times during the past two weeks. The current sample positivity rate (CSPR) has also recorded an increase of 84.66 per cent in this period. But the hospitalisation is marginal. At present, only two persons are admitted to hospital.

The number of active cases, which was just 28 on April 4, went up to 143 on Sunday (April 17), as per the details provided by the nodal office of the Health Department monitoring Covid patients.

With recovery rate trailing behind the new cases, the infection rate touched 2.54 per cent on Monday against 0.03 per cent registered two weeks ago (on April 4), according to officials concerned.

The CSPR, which had been hanging around 0.05 per cent till April 12, zoomed to 7.36 per cent on April 14, when a total of 19 new cases were reported on a single day.

The highest number of new cases touched the figure of 32 on Sunday (April 17), which was maximum this month.

The vaccination of the younger population in the age group of 12 to 14 years has been slower than expected, it is claimed. The Health Department has been able to vaccinate only 30,000 against the target of 83,660 identified at the start of the vaccination drive launched a month ago.

In all, 21.25 lakh beneficiaries have taken the first dose, around 17.34 lakh have been vaccinated fully, which is 8.5 per cent more than the eligible population in the district.
