Kurukshetra, October 21

Barring sporadic incidents of EVMs developing technical snags and a verbal spat between BJP and Congress workers, the polling went off peacefully in all four Assembly constituencies (Thanesar, Pehowa, Shahabad and Ladwa) of Kurukshetra.

The polling was affected at several booths for a few minutes to over an hour.

First-time voter Preeti, who is doing a computer course, and Saneha, a GNM student from Barna village, said they expected the new government to generate jobs, ensure development and improve infrastructure.

Even as women came out in large numbers, they said they would vote the way their husbands tell them to vote.

A protest was witnessed outside booth number 132 at Government Senior Secondary School in Pehowa, when a car carrying stickers of a BJP candidate reached near the school. The car had reportedly reached there to drop a ‘divyang’ voter, but booth agents of other parties termed it violation of the model code of conduct.
