In-service docs to get incentives for PG medical admissions

The Haryana Government has offered certain incentives to in-service doctors for admission to postgraduate courses like MD/MS/MDS for the academic session 2019-20.

According to the new admission procedure, which was notified by the state government yesterday, the in-service candidates will be entitled to an incentive at 10 per cent of the marks obtained in the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019 examination for each year of service rendered in the institutes located in remote, difficult and rural areas.However, incentive marks will not exceed 30 per cent of the marks obtained in the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019 examination.

Earlier, 50 per cent seats in these PG courses were reserved for in-service government doctors.Meanwhile, private medical and dental colleges across the state will be able to fill 50 per cent seats under the management quota for admission to postgraduate courses like MD/MS/MDS for the academic session 2019-20.

Now, 50 per cent seats in government institutions will be filled through the All-India Merit Category and the remaining 50 per cent through the Haryana State Merit Category of the NEET PG-2019 and NEET MDS-2019.“As many as 25 per cent seats will be reserved (institutional preference) for candidates who have passed MBBS/BDS course from institutes located in Haryana under state quota seats in all government/government-aided/private medical/dental institutes, including those under private universities of SGT University, Budhera (Gurugram) and PDM University, Bahadurgarh,” said the notification issued by Amit Jha, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Medical Education and Research.

The Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, has been authorised to conduct combined online counselling. The Dean (Academic Affairs) of the university will be the chairman of the eight-member admission committee. The committee has been tasked to take all decisions regarding counselling-related matters. The ACS will be the appellate authority for all decisions of the admission committee whose decisions will be final.The notification said candidates (other than in-service candidates) at the time of admission would be required to execute a bond that they would not leave the course before completion. “In case any candidate leaves the course midway, he/she shall pay Rs 7.5 lakh to the institutions concerned and the candidate concerned will be debarred from admission to any PG course for the next three years,” the notification warned.
