Rohtak: Prof Rajbir Singh, Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), said research was necessary to create a knowledge society, which in turn facilitates the foundation of a vibrant economy. “Researchers must work towards doing research with social relevance,” he said in his address during the induction programme for MPhil and PhD freshers here on Monday. The VC said research scholars must choose their topic(s) carefully and must work on it with academic honesty. He said providing solutions to societal problems like environmental challenges, health issues, sustainability etc must be the focus of research scholars.
Lecture on remote sensing
Sonepat: Prof Suman Sangwan of the computer science and engineering department delivered a lecture on ‘Remote sensing-Opportunities and challenges’ in a short-term training programme on ‘Image processing and remote sensing’ held in Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST). She said the amalgamation of new technologies like big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing and machine learning, with remote sensing provide new ways to collect, analyse and interpret data for new era of innovative applications for the betterment of mankind.
