A four-day sports competition, “Jazba 2.0”, began at Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Devinder Singh, who formally inaugurated the event.
The official “Jazba 2.0” opening poster was unveiled during a ceremonial roll-out at the inauguration.
Addressing participants, Prof Singh said sports are not merely physical activities but a powerful medium for holistic personality development. Regular participation keeps the body healthy, strong and active, while enhancing endurance, flexibility and overall fitness, he said.
He added that sports instil discipline, time management and team spirit. Through sporting activities, individuals learn to set goals, face challenges and move forward with determination even in adverse circumstances.
Prof Singh also underscored the role of sports in mental development, saying they improve concentration, focus, self-confidence and decision-making abilities. Sports help reduce stress and promote a positive outlook, he said, encouraging participants to compete with true sportsmanship and strive to bring pride to the university.
Registrar Dr Ashutosh Mishra, addressing the players, said the primary objective of sports is not merely victory but the development of a healthy body, strong mind and sound character. Winning and losing are integral parts of life, he said, and sports teach individuals to accept both with grace and dignity.
He assured students the university administration would extend full support to promote sports activities.
