A day before the starting of filing of nomination papers for the upcoming Assembly elections, Kaithal Deputy Commissioner-cum District Election Officer Dr Vivek Bharti and Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kalia on Wednesday visited the office of the Returning Officer (RO), Guhla, to review the preparedness for the filing of nomination papers. The nomination process will begin from September 5 and the last date for it is September 12.

“We have made all arrangements for the filing of nomination papers,” said the DC.

He said the nomination papers for the Guhla Assembly constituency would be accepted at the SDM office in Guhla-Cheeka. The nomination forms can be submitted on all working days from 11 am to 3 pm. Only three vehicles will be allowed within a 100-m radius of the nomination centre and only four persons, along with the candidate, will be permitted inside the nomination room.

The nomination building will be equipped with CCTV cameras. Additionally, nomination forms can also be filled online. However, the candidates must submit a hard copy of the online nomination form to the respective RO’s office. The scrutiny of nomination papers scheduled for September 13. The candidates can withdraw their nominations till September 16, while voting will take place on October 5, followed by the counting of votes on October 8. SDMs of Kaithal, Kalayat and Guhla-Cheeka will be ROs of their segments, while the RTA secretary has been appointed as RO of Pundri, he added.

Sirsa: The Returning Officer and SDM of Kalanwali Assembly, Suresh Rovash, conducted a meeting on Wednesday to review preparations for the upcoming 2024 Assembly elections. Kalanwali Assembly has 187 polling stations and a total of 1,83,919 voters are expected to participate, including 97,428 men, 86,485 women, six transgender voters and 466 service voters. Special arrangements have been made for elderly and disabled voters, particularly those over 85 years old, who can vote from home by filling out Form 12D through their local BLOs. OC
