Kaithal honours donors supporting ‘Gyan Daan’ book bank
Deputy Commissioner Aparajita honoured several officers and social workers with certificates of appreciation for donating books related to competitive examinations to the district administration’s “Gyan Daan Book Bank” initiative.
The campaign, launched under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, continues to receive encouraging support from government officials and members of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, Aparajita lauded the contribution of the donors and said that donating books is among the noblest forms of charity, as it has the power to transform the lives of deserving and underprivileged students. She urged officers, employees and citizens to contribute to the initiative so that students from economically weaker sections can access quality study material free of cost.
“Books donated today can shape the future of a needy and meritorious student tomorrow,” she said, adding that the initiative not only provides educational resources but also boosts students’ confidence and helps them achieve their goals.
The Deputy Commissioner said that more than 2,300 books have been collected so far under the initiative, which is being operated at the DIET campus on Jind Road in Kaithal.
The collection includes books related to a range of competitive and entrance examinations, including UPSC, HPSC, NEET, JEE Main, International Olympiads, CUET, CET, CGL, CPT, CA, Banking Services, Sainik School, Army Public School and several other recruitment and admission tests.
She said the primary objective of the district administration is to promote a culture of knowledge-sharing in society so that more students can benefit from quality educational resources and build a brighter future.
Aparajita said books can be donated on working days between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Book Bank established on the DIET campus on Jind Road. District Math Specialist Chhatrapal has been appointed as the nodal officer for the initiative. Citizens may seek information by contacting 94679-20070 or 96715-86626.
