A five-day Kala Utsav on “Sashakt Nari: Sashakt Samaj, Sashakt Rashtra” is being organised by the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts at Kurukshetra University.

On the second day, Chief Guest and Vice-Chancellor KU, Som Nath Sachdeva, said women today contribute significantly across fields such as science, sport, arts and culture, thereby strengthening the nation’s foundation.

Appreciating the participating artists, Sachdeva said such cultural initiatives play a vital role in bringing positive social change. He commended the artists for conveying powerful messages on women’s strength and societal contribution through their artworks.

Workshop curator Gurcharan Singh said the festival bridges traditional art forms with contemporary creativity, enabling young artists to express their cultural identity. The workshop has drawn participation from ten prominent artists from across India, including strong representation of women, reflecting the university’s commitment to gender equality.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Jimmy Sharma said artists from different states captivated the audience with their creative presentations. Vinay Sharma demonstrated watercolour techniques, offering insights into fluidity and control. Anjani Reddy depicted the beauty of nature through her theme “In the Lap of Nature”.

Ritu presented an artwork on environmental awareness, while Gauri Shankar Soni explored human interaction amid cultural transitions. KK Gandhi impressed viewers with a painting of a serene Buddhist monastery set in a majestic mountain valley, he added.
