Chandigarh, August 5
To curb road accidents in the state, the Haryana Government has been establishing the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Karnal in collaboration with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited.
The institute is to inaugurated tomorrow.
The construction work of the IDTR on 9.25 acres near the new bus stand has been completed. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will dedicate the institution to the people of the state. Referring to a report, the CM said road accidents were the leading cause of deaths across the world. “Therefore, it is necessary to curb road accidents and this institution will play an important role in doing so.”
He said in the institute, drivers from across the state would be imparted proper training, which would ensure road safety in the state. He said the institute would be the first driver training and research institute equipped with modern facilities. The training will be imparted to the drivers of Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Sonepat and Karnal.
Notably, training for driving two-wheeler, and four-wheeler light and heavy vehicles will be imparted and tests will also be taken.
