The commissioning ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Order of Kentucky Colonels, where Executive Director Sherry Crose formally conferred the title upon Pannu. The Certificate of Commission bears the signatures of HE Andy Beshear, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and Michael G Adams, Secretary of State.

The Kentucky Colonel title carries deep historical significance. Originating in the late 18th century as a military rank in the Kentucky Militia, it has since evolved into an honorary civilian commission granted by the Governor to individuals recognised for noteworthy achievements and outstanding service to society.

Over the years, the honour has been conferred on several eminent personalities, including Harland “Colonel” Sanders, founder of KFC; legendary boxer Muhammad Ali; actors George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence; and former US Presidents Bill Clinton, George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan.
