Khattar visits Panipat, assures industry of support
Meets family of late colleague at Yamunanagar village
Addressing industrial and traders’ organisations here on Saturday, Union Minister for Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar said the Panipat industry was "an honour of the country" and the Central and state governments would always support industrial development.
Earlier, he honoured Khem Raj Sundriyal, who has been named for the Padma Shri Award.
The Chairman of the Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industries (Panipat chapter), Vinod Dhamija, on behalf of industrialists, put forth their demands, including installation of zero liquid discharge plant to ensure environmental compliance, common boiler facilities, sanction of a textile mega park, continuation of free zone areas in the district and establishment of an international-level exhibition centre for export promotion.
The Union minister said the industry played an important role in the development of the country. India had successfully got a free trade agreement with the EU and the UK and finalised a trade deal with the US, he said.
Khattar said about 10 lakh people were directly or indirectly getting employment due to industries in Panipat. He said industrialists should not compromise with the basic security arrangements while developing their industries. Scheduled planning and proper security arrangements were mandatory to avert any untoward incident, he said.
