Kurukshetra university approves key promotions

Kurukshetra University’s 288th Executive Council meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva.

The council deliberated on 22 agendas and approved several key academic and administrative decisions. The proceedings and action taken report of the previous meeting were also reviewed and ratified.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Dr Jimmy Sharma, said the council examined recommendations of various selection committees and approved promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for faculty across departments. Ten teachers were promoted to Senior Professor, including Prof Neelam Rani (Commerce), Prof Vinod Kumar (Mathematics), Prof SP Kaushik (Geography), Prof Neera Raghav (Chemistry), Prof Rakesh Kumar (Computer Science and Applications), Prof Bhagwan Singh Choudhary (Geophysics), Prof Nirmala Choudhary (USM), Prof Sunita Siroha (English), Prof Dinesh Kumar (Library Science) and Prof Rajeshwari (Geography).

Associate Professors Dr Rashmi Choudhary (Commerce) and Dr Virender Pal (English, IIHS) were promoted to Professor, while Assistant Professors Dr Aarti Shayokand (Music and Dance) and Dr Dinesh Kumar (Tourism) were elevated to Associate Professor under CAS.

The council also cleared promotion cases of Deputy Superintendents as recommended by the Establishment Committee.

To strengthen recruitment, the council finalised the constitution of selection committees for filling vacant posts of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in various departments.

A progress report on the construction of an all-weather Olympic-size swimming pool on the campus was presented, following which the council directed that the work be completed within the stipulated timeline.

The council approved proposals related to fee structures for PhD programmes, including application charges and temporary and permanent affiliation fees.
