Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said Kurukshetra University would host the 18th Goyal Award Ceremony on April 3, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to promote excellence in scientific research and innovation.
Prof Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, will attend the ceremony as the chief guest.
Highlighting the significance of the awards, Sachdeva said since their inception in 1992, the Goyal Awards have emerged as one of the country’s notable recognitions for outstanding contribution in science. The awards aim at acknowledging path-breaking research and inspiring the scientific community, particularly young scholars.
For the year 2023–24, the Goyal Awards will be conferred across four disciplines: applied sciences to Dr Aniruddha Bhalchandra Pandit, chemical sciences to Dr Thalappil Pradeep, life sciences to Dr Paramjit Khurana, and physical sciences to Dr Sriram Ramaswamy.
The university will also present the Rajib Goyal Awards to promising scientists below the age of 45, recognising emerging talent and innovation in contemporary research. The recipients include: applied sciences to Dr Gopinath Pakirisamy, chemical sciences to Dr Debabrata Maiti, life sciences to Dr Durga Pal, physical sciences to Dr Smarajit Karmakar.
