Kurukshetra University VC honoured with Outstanding Vice Chancellor of India award

Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof Som Nath Sachdeva has been honoured with the Outstanding Vice Chancellor of India Award at the 15th India Education Summit-2026, recently held in New Delhi.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Dr Jimmy Sharma, informed that the award was presented by the Indian Education Network (IEN) in recognition of Prof Sachdeva’s path-breaking initiatives, and significant contributions to academic development and innovation in the higher education sector. The IEN is a leading community in education that provides analytical and in-depth insights to issues pertaining to the education sector. The honour was conferred in the presence of eminent academicians and education leaders from across the country.

A total of 15 Vice Chancellors from across India were selected for this distinguished recognition.

Prof Sachdeva described the honour as a matter of pride for Kurukshetra University. “This recognition reflects the collective commitment and dedication of the entire university community. It strengthens our resolve to continue striving for academic excellence and innovation at the national level,” he said.

During the summit, Prof Sachdeva chaired the first technical session and highlighted Kurukshetra University’s proactive implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He stated that KU is among the first universities in the country to effectively implement all major provisions of NEP 2020.
