Gurugram, August 5
The police today nabbed three of the four accused in connection with the labourers’ death in an under-construction tower of Palms Hill Society here.
Four labourers had died after falling from the 17th floor of the building on Tuesday.
Six were booked for negligence causing death, of which three were arrested today and let off on bail after joining the probe. Those arrested include project manager Vyom Kaish, tower in-charge Suresh Katyal and mechanic foreman Santosh Kumar Sahu. The police had served a notice on trio to join the probe.
During preliminary probe, the trio admitted to not making enough safety arrangements as they were in a hurry to complete the project. “The three accused, who have joined the investigation, were present on the accident site. They claim that they wanted the project to be completed fast so did not make proper arrangements. We are investigating further,” said Rajender Singh, SHO, Kherki Daula.
As per the police, 20 labourers have died in accidents at construction sites till July this year. In all cases, there was a lack of security arrangements. The majority of accidents were reported from Badshahpur, Manesar, Pataudi, Farrukhnagar and in sectors along the Southern Peripheral Road and Dwarka Expressway, where most of the construction work is currently going on.
