A 45-year-old person, Dilbagh, aka Nandi, was shot dead in the fields of Kakoda village in the Israna block late last night.
Rajender Singh, a resident to Prahlad Pur in Delhi, in a statement to the Israna police said, “I had purchased around 12 acres in Kakoda village 12 years ago. Dilbagh was taking care of my land and was living in a room near a tubewell in the fields.
“I had given my agriculture land for cultivation to my namesake Rajender, a resident of Mamudpur village in Sonepat district. Around 10 labourers from Uttar Pradesh have been working in the fields. A neighbour informed me about Dilbagh’s murder around 2.30 am,” he said.
His relatives took Dilbagh to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women, Khanpur, where doctors declared him brought dead, Rajender added.
“When I reached my fields, labourers told me that some people fired at Dilbagh around 1.30 am. He shouted for help but they could not because their room was locked from outside,” he said.
DSP Jagdeep Duhan, Inspector Jitender Kumar, Israna police station SHO along with a forensic team visited the crime spot.
Inspector Jitender Kumar, said, “A case has been registered on a complaint by Rajender, owner of the land, against unknown assailants under various sections of the IPC”.
