Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Aman deported from US, held at Delhi airport
Interpol Red Notice led to arrest after months-long global chase
Wanted fugitive and Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Aman Kumar alias Aman Bhainswal was deported from the US and arrested by the Haryana Police at Delhi airport today.
The deportation was coordinated by the CBI in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs after an Interpol Red Notice was issued at the request of Haryana Police. Aman was wanted in serious criminal cases involving murder, rioting and criminal conspiracy.
Immediately after his arrival, a team of the Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF), Gurugram, took him into custody. Aman was earlier arrested in India but was granted bail and later absconded without facing trial.
STF officials said Aman operated his own gang and also had links with the Rohit Godara gang. He is involved in multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, firing incidents, extortion and violations of the Arms Act across Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and the Delhi-NCR region. A total of 10 criminal cases are registered against him in Haryana and Delhi, six of them prior to his fleeing abroad.
STF Inspector General B Satheesh Balan said the gangster had been detained in the US two months ago. “After all the process, finally he was deported from the US and arrested today from Delhi Airport,” he said.
He added that Aman had fled India using forged documents. “Investigations revealed that gangster Bhainswal fraudulently obtained a passport using forged documentation based on an East Delhi address. On June 20, 2024, he travelled to Kuwait using this illegal passport and subsequently entered Dubai and then the US,” Balan said.
A case under the Indian Justice Code and the Passport Act was registered at Gohana Sadar police station in Sonepat. A Look-Out Circular was issued and Aman was declared a proclaimed offender before being traced and geo-located in the US.
Balan said two other criminals were currently detained in the US, while two more were held in Georgia and Armenia and would be deported soon. “The extradition of Aman Bhainswal is a clear demonstration of STF Haryana’s expanded global strategy aimed at apprehending fugitives sheltering overseas,” he said, adding that the operation took over one-and-a-half years and involved close coordination with Interpol and US enforcement agencies.
Reacting to the development, DGP Ajay Singhal issued a strong warning. “Those who think they can hide beyond national boundaries or evade the law through fake identities must understand that no one can escape the reach of Haryana Police. Every fugitive, whether in India or abroad, will be brought to justice. Haryana is a state of law and order, not a refuge for criminals,” he said.
