The district police administration has started preparations to maintain law and order during the Assembly polls, besides establishing better coordination with the neighbouring Rajasthan Police for curbing illegal activities.

Police officials of both states will keep aclose vigil on the borders, identifying sensitive routes and activating checkposts at the meeting. They also deliberated over carrying out vehicle-checking campaigns at the border points of both states to check any sort of illegal activities for ensuring smooth conduct of the elections. —Spokesperson of the district police

A joint meeting of police officials of Mahendragarh and adjoining state Rajasthan was held at the Nangal Choudhary police station here on Tuesday. Besides SHOs of various police stations, Narnaul DSP Suresh Kumar, DSP Rajesh Kumar, Buhana DSP Noparam Bhakar, Chirawa DSP Vikash Dhindwal and Neem ka Thana DSP Anuj Dutt were present at the meeting.

“Police officials of both states discussed keeping a close vigil on the borders, identifying sensitive routes and activating checkposts at the meeting. They also deliberated over carrying out vehicle-checking campaigns at the border points of both states to check any sort of illegal activities for ensuring smooth conduct of the elections,” said spokesperson of the district police.

He said all police station in-charges had been instructed to prepare a list of notorious and absconding criminals of their respective areas and exchange it with each other, conduct planned and joint raids for the arrest of the criminals, identify the persons involved in the illegal liquor trade to tighten the noose around them.

“The police station in-charges in the border areas have been directed to coordinate with each other and conduct raids in a planned manner. Every possible effort should be made to conduct the upcoming Assembly elections in a peaceful, fair and cordial environment,” the police spokesman added.

The Rajasthan Police officers said full vigilance would be kept in the border areas during the elections. At the meeting, a decision was taken to form social media groups at every level for quick exchange of information.

It was also decided to prepare a list of such suspicious elements who could influence the elections but they did not have any criminal record. The discussions were about conducting continuous police patrolling in the border areas where there was a possibility of illegal activities. They were told to form check posts for vehicle checking, to take vital steps to check transportation and distribution of liquor during the polls.
