Majority of doctors on strike in Sirsa, but services largely unaffected

On the first day of a two-day strike by the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association, most government doctors in Sirsa were on strike, but alternative arrangements by the Health Department ensured that the patients faced minimal disruption.

No regular doctors were present at the government health facilities, including Civil Hospital, Sirsa. However, OPD and emergency services continued with the help of National Health Mission (NHM) doctors, consultant teams, and specialists sent from Agroha Medical College.

On Monday, around 970 patients visited the Civil Hospital OPD, including those for chest diseases, pediatrics, gynecology, ENT, orthopedics, surgery, and psychiatry. The hospital also conducted one normal delivery and one cesarean section. A postmortem was carried out by consultant eye specialist Dr Sandeep for a body brought to the mortuary. Emergency services were staffed by a team from Agroha Medical College.

NHM’s Dr Sagar managed the pediatric OPD. Dr Kiran Mahi Jindal from Agroha and Dr Bhawna from PHC Shaktinagar examined patients in the ENT department. Orthopedic services were maintained by Dr Suryansh and Dr Balinder from Agroha. Many patients said they did not face major problems despite the absence of regular doctors.
