Taking serious note of the incident, Zila Parishad chairperson Manju Hooda has written to the district police seeking action against those involved in the attack. The office of the Chief Executive Officer (Zila Parishad) has also written to the SP in this regard.

A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows a group of men beating a person inside a room and pushing him to the ground.

The office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) is also located in the same building. However, ADC Narendra Kumar was reportedly not present when the incident took place.

On Thursday, chaotic scenes had unfolded during a Zila Parishad meeting after a heated argument between vice-president Anil Hooda and councillor Dheeraj Malik escalated into a physical altercation.

“We have written to the SP demanding that the matter be investigated and those involved in the attack be identified and stern action be taken against them after analysing the CCTV footage installed in the premises,” Manju Hooda told ‘The Tribune’.

She said she was not present in the office when the incident occurred and came to know about it from the staff.

“Yesterday too, chaos and unruly scenes were witnessed during the Zila Parishad meeting. Every member should present their views while remaining within limits and maintaining the decorum of the meeting. Both incidents are unfortunate,” she added.

An official at the CEO (Zila Parishad) office, requesting anonymity, said the repeated incidents of violence were a matter of concern.

“The violent incidents first at the Zila Parishad meeting and then at the ZP office today not only raise questions about the democratic setup but also create a sense of fear among people. Moreover, it disrupts government work. Hence, we have demanded that the SP take appropriate action in the matter,” the official said.

When contacted, SP Surendra Singh Bhoria said the police had not yet received any complaint regarding the incident at the Zila Parishad office.
