Man attempts suicide outside Karnal SP office

Tejpal (35), a resident of Badota village in the district, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance outside the SP office at the third floor at the mini-secretariat here on Monday. He had gone there to meet SP Surinder Singh Bhoria regarding a complaint against his brother Vijay Pal involving their ancestral property. He was admitted to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) and is said to be out of danger.

According to information, Tejpal along with his wife met DSP (headquarters) Virender Saini in the absence of the SP. The DSP called up the Madhuban SHO to investigate the case. The sources said that Tejpal was angry over the police inaction on the complaint. Meanwhile, the police are ascertaining the reason behind the suicide attempt. The Civil Lines police have registered a case against Tejpal, said the SP. He added that both brothers were involved in a civil case and the police had already taken preventive action under Section 107/51 of the CrPC. — TNS
