Man electrocuted while setting up sound system

A worker was electrocuted to death when he was setting up a sound system for a programme at Kharbala village of Hansi district today. The deceased had been identified as Amitabh (35), a resident of Narwana in Jind district.

According to information, a programme was being organised at Kharbala village to celebrate Karpoori Thakur Jayanti. The Congress MLA from Narnaund Jassi Petwar was scheduled to attend the event as chief guest. Amitabh was working on setting up the sound system at the venue.

He died on the spot after reportedly coming into contact with a live wire. He died on the spot. The victim was living in a rented accommodation near Chaar Qutub Gate in Hansi for some time and used to work on daily wages. He is survived by two daughters and a son. The police took the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Further action will be taken after recording the statements of the victim’s family of and eyewitnesses.
