Man found hanging in orchard

Yamunanagar: A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in an orchard of the district’s Kisan Pura village. The deceased was identified as Rajeev. The orchard reportedly belonged to the family of former Deputy Speaker of the Haryana Assembly, Akram Khan. Rajeev’s grandfather Ramchandra, in his statement to the police, said his grandson was addicted to liquor. He committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on Wednesday, Ramchandra said. Ratan Lal, SHO, Khizrabad police station, said the cops suspected no foul play. The police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. TNS

Two labourers die in wall collapse

Sonepat: Two labourers were killed and two others were injured after a wall at a brick-kiln near Khanda village collapsed on Wednesday. The incident took place when they were loading bricks in a truck. The deceased were identified as Irfan (34) and Shajid (22) of Uttar Pradesh. The injured persons, Rashid and Ikrar, were referred to a UP hospital following the request of their families. The SI, Subhash, said that on the complaint of Mustak, father of Shajid, a case had been registered and further investigations had been initiated. OC

Panipat ragpicker sustains bullet injury  

Panipat: A 13-year-old ragpicker, identified as Arjun, sustained a bullet injury at Chulkana village of Samalkha on Thursday. The police have started the investigation. The victim's mother Rekha said her son, along with two other children, had gone to collect garbage from Chulkana village in the morning. Suddenly, a bullet hit her son and he sustained serious injuries. An auto driver brought him home and later he was taken to the General Hospital at Samalkha. However, doctors there referred the child to BPS Medical College for Woman, Khanpur. TNS

Student found dead, murder suspected 

Kurukshetra: A 22-year-old student was found dead at the Civil Hospital here on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified Amit Kumar of Deegh village in Kaithal district. He was enrolled in a private ITI here. Police sources said Amit had deep wounds in the head. He was spotted under a tree near the main entrance to the hospital. The police suspect Amit was murdered. Prima facie, it appeared that his body was thrown near the hospital. His family suspected the role of Amit's friend in his alleged murder. TNS
