A Punhana resident allegedly got his wife gangraped in return of money to buy liquor. The accused kept his wife, a mother of three, locked in a room took turns to rape her along with his brother-in-law and a neighbour.

The victim somehow managed to flee two days ago and came to her parents in Nagina who then approached the police.

The accused was nabbed late last night by Nuh police from Jamalgarh Road and produced in local court that sent him to judicial custody.

According to the victim, the incident happened in the first week of March and she ran off to her parents home. Sacred of being turned out from there also, she did not tell anything to anybody. But her mother grew suspicious and quizzed her. It was then that the victim broke down and narrated her ordeal.

The family immediately moved police that registered an FIR under Sections 376-D (gangrape), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Bichchor police station.

Stating that her husband was an alcoholic and could not think beyond liquor, the victim told the police: “He used to beat me up but I put up with everything for my three children. There was no money for food even and he locked me in a room and raped me threatening to stab and kill me. My husband sent his brother-in-law and then a neighbour who raped me saying they were paying for his liquor. He wanted to turn me into a prostitute to get money but I escaped. I feared for my life and my reputation so I kept quiet. When I could not take it anymore, I confided with my mother.”

Devi Charan, SHO of Bichor police station, said, “The victim’s statements were recorded under 164 CrPc and we have arrested the accused who has confessed to the crime. Now we are conducting raids to nab the other two.”
