Yamunanagar, May 9

A person allegedly supplied two “duplicate” injections of Remdesivir to a family member of a Covid patient and charged Rs 32,000 from him.

The injections were sealed and taken into possession by the authorities of the Drugs Control Department, Yamunanagar.

On the complaint of Drugs Control Officer Praveen Kumar, a case was registered against Sanam Vohra of Yamunanagar under several Sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Drugs Price Control Order and Essential Commodity Act at the City police station on Saturday.

LABORATORY REPORT AWAITED

The police will send the injections to a laboratory for examination. Only after the arrival of the report, we shall be able to confirm whether the injections are duplicate or not.

In a complaint to the Drugs Control Officer, Yatharth Rana of Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) said his mother was admitted to a private hospital of Yamunanagar on May 6.

He said he needed two Remdesivir injections for his mother, so he got a mobile number of a man, who named himself as Mr Vohra. When contacted, Vohra became ready to give two injections at a cost of Rs 32,000.

The complainant said that the suspect gave him two injections around 9 pm on May 6. “When the injections were given to the doctor, he refused to administer them to my mother saying they were fake/duplicate,” he alleged.

The Drugs Control Officer said the injections were sealed and handed over to the police. “The police will send the injections to a

laboratory for examination. Only after the arrival of the report, we shall be able to confirm whether the injections are duplicate or not,” he added.

Sources said the suspect was rounded up by the police. However, City police station SHO Sukhbir Singh said the accused would be arrested soon.
