The Kurukshetra police have arrested a man in connection with the murder case of Sahil Kumar, who was allegedly killed by being crushed under a SUV over a petty dispute.
The arrested accused has been identified as Somnath, a resident of Ismailabad. The deceased was identified as Sahil, a resident of Kurukshetra, while the main accused was identified as Dipanshu. Somnath has been arrested for sheltering the accused. However, the prime accused is yet to be arrested.
As per the Kurukshetra police spokesman, a complaint was received at the Ismailabad police station in which complainant Shamin Panjrath had stated that on March 29, his brother-in-law had reached Ismailabad to attend a wedding event. During the event at a palace, he had a dispute with Dipanshu while dancing to music. However, the matter was resolved. But around 12.40 in the night, when the complainant, along with Simardeep Singh, Raman, Vipul and Sahil were standing in a parking. Dipanshu reached there in his black Thar and hit Sahil Kumar with the motive to kill him.
The complainant further alleged that Dipanshu purposely crushed Sahil under the wheels and fled away. The victim was rushed to Civil Hospital Ambala City where he was declared dead. A case was registered at the Ismailabad police station. On Sunday, the police arrested Dipanshu’s uncle, Somnath, for sheltering the accused, the police spokesman said.
Ismailabad police station SHO Jagdish Kumar said Somnath had been arrested and efforts were being made to nab the main accused. There are eight cases of fraud against Somnath at different police stations in Karnal and Ambala.
