Man held in Fatehabad for online toy scam

The police in Bhattu Kalan town of Fatehabad district have arrested a man on Thursday from Rajasthan for allegedly cheating people by selling toys on Instagram. The accused has been identified as Manish, alias Monu, a resident of Lalera Patta Mahajan village in Bikaner district.

According to the police, the accused was using social media platforms to commit fraud. Sunil, a resident of Banmandori village, had filed a complaint stating that he came across an Instagram account with around 1.87 lakh followers. The account displayed attractive toy models of tractors.

Interested in buying one, Sunil contacted the WhatsApp number provided by the seller. The accused demanded Rs 1,000 for the toy.

After Sunil transferred the money online, the accused blocked him and did not deliver the toy. Sunil then registered a complaint on the cyber portal. Based on the complaint, a case was filed at the Bhattu Kalan police station under Section 318(4) of the BNS.

With technical assistance from the cyber cell and other evidence, the police conducted a raid and arrested the accused. A mobile phone used by him was also seized.
